I don't think that look works for you, Part 1

I joined a flickr group where members upload photos of themselves in outifts they really like, and other users comment and get ideas from them. It's basically a fashion showcase. But I think some people haven't really found their 'look' yet...
But that's really just my opinion. Everyone's style is different!

fashion picks 090707

Some things I found while browsing for clothes (click to see a larger version):

Top: Next
Shorts: Forever 21
Shoes: Modcloth.com
Pug keychains / phone straps: Crystal Ball
Strawberry toilet brush: Swimmer

I'm not saying that these things go together to form an outfit (hence the toilet brush...).

Of course, these images do not belong to me, but to the respective companies listed.

English on fashion items 1

I love the way English is used on fashion items here in Japan. Not just when it's incorrect, but more when it's overly poetic or dramatic for something you'd put on a T-shirt. I love it when an ear-picker's packaging claims it will 'make perfect life,' or a pencil case aims to provide 'happiness daily living.' The utterly incomprehensible ones are interesting, too.

Here are some I found while looking for clothes on Japanese online shops and directories.

Friends please don't let friends do drug
A slight misuse of the old 'Friends don't let friends' structure.

Seriously, like, stay smart.
I love the punctuation and colloquial feel of this one.

Trip of the casino
Maybe this is the Japanese title of 'Fear and Loathing in Las Vegas.'

Weeds grown into dense
I feel like there's another drug reference here.

Socially insecure
I would love to know if anyone buys this T-shirt knowing what this means. I don't know if I'd want to meet that person though.

Do you know this meaning?
...which brings us to this T-shirt. No doubt the frustrated copy writer was doing an experiment with this one.

That's all for today! Check back for some more merriment another time.

Wonders of the Web 20090702

This is my first 'Wonders of the Web' post. Basically I just collect the best things I've found online during the week into one place. Sure, you could just go to digg.com and get the full spectrum, but these are my personal favourites and might not always be found there. Anyhow, it saves emailing people to tell them about the cool thing I found.

1. This woman really looks like a comic book character (maybe Witchblade): Jodie Marsh and her MJ tattoo
2. Check out the intense guy in the banner at the top of this page. He's doing some crazy video editing shit right there.
3. India's chilli bombs.
4. Some dude captures a marlin by jumping from a helicopter here.
5. I've seen quite a lot of these Bizarre Japanese Toys in stores here.
6. I found this during an image search for Sea Pigs.
7. Uh-oh. Japan is in danger.

More to come another time.
